Travelling and eating my way around the world

London

Made it to London…. finally!  To say I’m tired would be the understatement of the year.  I figure it took me about 19 hrs** from YVR to my hostel just outside Central London. I’m going on about a combined 5 hrs of airplane ”sleeping” and it shows. Good thing the bags under my eyes don’t count towards my luggage weight limit!

I wasn’t in Reykjavic very long (20 min!), but I still noticed a few things:

* the scenery looked so quaint and beautiful from the airplane

* everything at the airport is tax and duty free! (and it’s my last stop!)

* Icelandic guys are very easy on the eyes 😉  (I wonder if they need an ESL teacher… or know how to pack themselves in my     travel bag…)

Two connections later I reached London, and managed to navigate my way through Heathrow Airport, successfully use the Tube to pick up my London Pass and then find my hostel, which is one of the nicest hostels I’ve stayed in. There is high security (so you don’t have to worry, Mom!) with hostel / lift / room access requring a key card. Sadly, my bed is right by the door, but I brought earplugs and I know how to use ’em. Plus I’m pretty sure I’ll be out for the count, at least tonight, earplugs or not!

Gotta go plan tomorrow and my next few days!

** 1.5 hrs at YVR, 4 hrs to YYZ, 4 hrs wait, 5.5hrs to KEV (Reykjavic), 2.5hrs to Heathrow, 2hrs to get bag and find hostel

YYZed

Managed to make the plane / airline switch at Pearson. Now just chillin’ with my last Timmie’s tea & Canadian Maple for a while. Can’t be too sad tho, I’m expecting great food in my future 🙂

YVR

At the airport, thanks to Leanne 🙂

in a few minutes they will start the boarding. Next stop Toronto, not sure if they free wifi, but here’s hoping! From there, it’s London, with a touchdown in Reykjavik.

Good thing I don’t mind flying…

and then there was 12…. hours left!

ahhhhhhhhh! welcome to SPC – Slight Panic Central.
It’s not that I don’t have most things done; it’s that I am a list-maker, not a list-checking-off-er. So I’ve completed TONS of things (as my iPhone Reminders assure me), but I keep thinking of other things to add.

must.stop.adding.  (note to self: add “must.stop.adding” to my list of things to do…)

i DID get mostly-packed this afternoon, and went on a trial packing walk up to Sheena’s. Approx weight: 20lbs, minus a few more toiletries.

well, no more time to waste if i want to hit the sack in an hour. Left on the lists:

– charge electronics

– pack toiletries

– find SD card(s) for camera

– stop adding things to lists

– sleep

Well, those lists ain’t doin’ themselves (sadly…)  I’ll post tmrw from the airport (hopefully!)

T minus 5d, 15h…

… and I’ll be on my way to Europe!  This is my Happy-Birthday-to-me present for my big birthday 🙂  Go big or go home!

Being a procrastinating / list person, I still have tons of things left to do, but instead I’m trying to figure out wordpress, so that my plethora of readers (easily numbered in the tens of thousands hundreds tens ones) are in the loop!

I was hoping to do a trial pack & walk today, but due to the list (see above), a slightly sore back, and the sunshine, it didn’t happen. But I figure I have 25 days of practice coming up, and I wouldn’t want to take anything away from THAT experience.

So, the itinerary will be as follows:

London / Manchester / Dublin / Edinburgh  (which I’m told is pronounced Edinburah) / Dubrovnik / Paris / Reykjavic

and now, my lists await! More to come…
